Surface RT external VGA resolutions?

I have the VGA adapter and it is working, but the choices for resolutions are limited. I'd like to use 1600 x 900 (native for the monitor I'm using), but I'm only getting four choices:

1024 x 768
1280 x 1024
1680 x 1050
1920 x 1080

I read a review that seemed to indicate that 1600 x 900 on an external monitor was possible, but it didn't go into any details. Does anyone know a way to allow other VGA options?

Hey buddy, I too am connecting to a external VGA moniter through an adapter however my moniter is old and has a max of 1024x768. Try playing around with the display settings and see if it makes a difference when you hit ' WINDOWS+P' at the same time and try changing it to second siplay only. If that doesn't work maybe it's the moniters aspect ratio is not matching the resolution your asking for. And finally, if it's not that, it could well be that windows isn't allowing 1600x900 because of scaling??
