surface pro 3 micro sdxc issues

Hello,
I bought a Surface Pro 3 i5 128gb.
To extend my storage I also bought a SanDisk microSDXC with 128gb.
My problem now is that the surface recognizes the microSDXC but loses connection after 10 minutes to half an hour.
I checked the USB 3.0 Card Reader driver and it is working.
Could this be a hardware issue or will this maybe fixed with an update.
Anyone with same issues?

did you leave it in long enough in the card reader, as you said it disconnects after 10-30 min. also try another SD card in the SP3 and see if the same thing happens with it.. doesn't have to be 128GB can be any size. and if the same thing happens then it might be a faulty device. last but not least I have heard of some people having to put a tiny amount of tape on the SD card if its a sandisk as its apparently too thin for the SP3...

I´m trying now another sd (32gb), card is running without problems.
I also recognized, that the SanDisk card isn´t recognized by the system after reboot, but no problem with the other one.

I already formatted the SanDisk card but with Windows not with an other program, I will try it another time and if it´s not working I will send it back!

Thanks for your help :)

There are quite a few threads on this same topic...

The general consensus is:
  • Some SanDisk work, some don't
  • Those that don't, generally work in other devices
  • Adding tape to make it thicker is a waste of time
  • Other brands seem to work first time/every time
