set it up today and have chrome with three tabs open. It burns in tablet mode.

No that is not normal, but the Chrome Specter Fix has caused Chrome which already struggled with power management issues much worse....

I know its bringing a post back from the dead, but I don't notice the burn due to using the stand a majority of the time instead of holding the Surface Pro 6 in my hand, but sometimes I do pick it up and feel some warmth from it.
One of the things that sold me on the Surface Pro 6 was the lack of feeling burn like a laptop would when it is on your lap and doing a lot of work.
