I'm been circling around purchasing a MS Surface Pro's since the first generation but it's wasn't until the SP3 was released that I was finely convinced to pull the trigger. What won me over is the reduction in weight, improved screen and most importantly the 3:2 aspect ratio. I am not a fan of 16:9/1080p on tablets or laptops. I bought the i5 8GB 256 GB model. After using it for a couple days I realized the extended warranty would be a good purchase since I could see the kickstand having issues after heavy use.
I'm had my new SP3 for a week now and so far I'm loving it. The hardware is really quite impressive and I would rank the quality up with Apple. Microsoft has come a long way in my very short period of time. This is also my first serious venture into Windows 8. I'm finding that Windows 8 is a mixed bag. It's like Microsoft came up with a crazy chimera OS which is a serious business desktop up front and a party tablet on the back (or the opposite). Parts of Windows 8.1 is brilliant like being able to run apps in a re-sizable split screen mode. Other parts are hideous like the awkward implementation of desktop mode and the number of unintuitive gestures. I've been a Windows administrator for 12 years and I find myself struggling to complete basic task. I really hope in Windows 9 Microsoft keeps the good and cleans out the bad. On the Surface Pro 3 Metro is definitely part of the good.
Even though I could keep going on I don't want to bore people too much. So I look forward to being part of this community and contributing where I can.
