Using Surface Dock to Output Network Signal?

This may sound stupid, but...

I may be using my SB in a hut at the end of the garden via wi-fi, but I'd like to connect other wired network components. If I connect my little switch to the Dock Ethernet, will there be throughput to other devices hard-wired to the switch from the SB wi-fi connection?
