Well let's not be too harsh. Whatever the reason this device did come out on Ballmer's watch as has Windows 8 so indirectly he should get the credit for those. If you are going to blame him for being a kook you also sort of have to give him credit for good things that are being allowed to happen while he is in charge as well.

Note I said indirect credit and allowing good things to happen not that he is a genius turning things around for MS but sometimes just not making bad decisions is enough to deserve credit

We know Apple didn't lead the way but the one thing that Apple did do is make it work! And because of the success of the iPad manufacturers now know that there is a huge market for tablets!

I agree Steve really impresses the audience with his superb speech to make it believe that his innovations are the best in the century and user friendly.
