Surface 4 pen on older models?

The Surface Pro 4 Pen works with the Surface 3, Surface Pro 3, Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book.

Will the pen work the same way as on the SP4 on a S3? With that I mean: will the eraser function as well? And will I have as many pressure points?

Just got the SP4 Pen to use on my SP3.
I followed the instructions @gjblack71 posted installing both MS Surface Pen drivers and Wintab drivers.

It works and I also now have the pen customization options in the Surface App, but the eraser doesn't work and there is no pressure sensitivity in Photoshop (7.0).
