Lock Screen Pin Weird Button

Hi guys,

Got my SP3 and im loving it
I never used windows 8 before so forgive me for my weird question. what does the button on the lower left of the pin pad do?

It switches on hiding of what you type. When you are using the on screen keyboard you will notice it lights up which key you pressed, which when you are entering your pin code, you may not want to happen in case of people looking over your shoulder.

So you should notice after you press that button, the keys you press will not light up.
