Could have a big battery life bump too if they move to the newer processor family.

Of course but is worth about 500 - 700$ more and maybe 10 - 15% faster CPU and about 20% faster GPU! I don't think so but everyone has his own preference! Me personal don't think it's worth it!

The new Surface Pro could use either the Core i5/i7 Kaby Lake Y dual core which is rated at 4.5 Watts instead of the Kaby Lake U dual core that is rated at 15 Watts. Lower power consumption means longer battery life. Also, Kaby Lake processors can render 4K video.
