So I've killed my tablet One option MS have given me is an out of warranty exchange for £200. However they say if it's too damaged they'll send it back.

What do you think from the attached pictures? Do you think it'll get swapped out?

Oh boy, I'm really sorry to hear that. I would be very happy if they fixed it for £200. Does the machine still work? i.e. Is it only the cracked screen and somewhat bent frame? If so, there's a small possibility that they might be able to replace the screen for that nominal price. If by swapping, you mean getting a replacement machine, I think you can rule that out.

How long have you had it? Some credit cards have a 90 day accidental damage protection built in, like American Express. I've exchanged a couple iPhones with American Express, was very easy and painless.

It's like a commercial for the Microsoft Complete extended warranty. Personally, I consider that a part of the purchase price...

How far did it fall? at first glance it appeared the frame was broken but that's just separation from the plastic insert for the antenna. It would seem replacing the screen and antenna insert with perhaps some buffing of the frame would take care of it. Now you have pictures of the current condition, be sure to save them and include copies in the returned box. Pack it really good mark it FRAGILE all over and take insurance on the return shipment. I have seen a couple posts on here where returns were further damaged in shipment due to inadequate packing mostly and obviously poor handling resulting in severely damaged units. Don't leave anything to chance.

was wondering, other than the screen, do you fear the ssd will/has failed because of that drop?

With cracked screens, has anyone tried to order a replacement screen on Ebay and just swap it out that way? I see them for around $95 shipped.
