We will be deploying about 20 surface pro 3 tablets running windows 8.1 professional. Any suggestions on how to manage applications for them? We would like to control what these users will be installing on their new tablets.

We use Microsoft SCCM, not specifically for SPs but all of our Windows devices.

Have you been using Windows in the past? How did you control them? The SP3 shouldn't be much different.

Something to look forward to... it sounds like in Win10 and after we may be forced to use MDM methods and protocols for devices under 10 inches if the PowerShell, Command Prompt and Group Policy support are dropped.

I'll echo what the others are saying, you can use the same tools that you normally use with on caveat - make sure that any Agents are compatible with Connected Standby, this is one of the reasons we're seeing more of a push to Mobile Device Management.

If you give us more information on how you network is configured we can be more helpful, are you using AD? If so, what version? Have you deployed System Center? If so, what version? Are you using MDM/MAM Solutions already? If so, which ones? Are you using any IDaaS solutions like Azure Active Directory or Okta?

How do I deploy a Universal App using a GPO or SCCM Package? I can create a Task Sequencer to side load, but I need to be really good at PowerShell and have my Enterprise Side Loading Licensing available. Same with Click to Run with a GPO....the world is changing and I'm really liking what I'm seeing with Microsoft's EMS....
