Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

I have a new theory on why Windows 10 Preview seems to behave differently and throw such divergent bugs on similar hardware. Could it be that each new release is not actually one release but several batches of releases under the same number, each with different setups allowing MS to test...

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

This isn't normal and not being experienced by other users. Perhaps your SP3 is defective? :-)

I wonder why they didn't include the swipe back feature in Spartan they have in Metro Explorer. I find that so useful.

Holding SP3 right now in tablet mode. Watch some embedded youtubes, fan is cranking full blast and the back of the tablet is literally burning my hand. Have no idea why W10 makes tablet so damned hot in tablet mode.

Enjoying Spartan right now, especially since I was able to get my favorites in there. Fast good looking browser.

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

Maybe it's because I just did the update within the last few hours but I'm basically just surfing the web and I could fry an egg on the back of this thing. Fan not blowing too hard but definitely running hot.

This worked using ISO over 8.1. Yay!

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

Weird. Got the 10122 ISO, burned it to a thumb drive using Rufus but when I try to boot to the thumb drive to install, it doesn't even see it.

I can't get my SP3 to boot from my thumb drive.

Perhaps this is the key then. Install ISO from thumb drive. Burning it now. Will report back. Am hopeful. Yeah Rufus is awesome little tool.

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

Did you burn the ISO to thumb drive and install from there or install from within Windows?

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

One nice thing about being back on 8.1. Complete utter fan silence. Ahhhhhh. Its a beautiful thing. 8.1 really is a fast, stable platform.

I did exactly that and failed. Can you link us to where you got your ISO please?

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

I have tried this also on a clean 10074 install and on a clean 8.1 install. All failed.

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

I find it truly remarkable that MS releases an update that works the worst on its flagship product. How the hell did this POS make it out the door? If MS doesn't have this resolved within 24 hours someone needs to get fired.

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

Reverted back to clean 8.1. Tried running 10122 ISO. STILL it fails! Seriously WTF? How are some people getting this to work?

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

Ok last gasp here. Tried upgrade and failed. Tried ISO and failed. Going to revert back to clean 8.1 and try ISO again. My guess is something may have been farked in my 10074 installation causing the issue.

Where did you get the ISO?

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

I just don't see how certain people are having success when I ran a clean 10074 install with no devices attached and still it failed. The ironic part is that the primary fail of MS's flagship OS appears to be on their flagship device. You simply can't make this sh*t up.

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

Ok. Did a 100% clean install of 10074 then ran the 10122 update. Got to 18% installed and 62% copied then nothing. Just sits there. Have no idea how that one user had a successful install given a completely utterly clean install failed. Honestly, MS should be ashamed.
