Well Paul Thurott would not have posted it if it wasn't safe. I did it the day he posted. No ill effects.Personally, I can't imagine editing the registry in a technical preview/beta like Windows 10, and certainly not for updates. I imagine doing this fix could have all sorts of unintended consequences.

For anyone who misses the old Windows 7 Gadget Bar you can still get it with 8GadgetPack. Kinda cool.
I keep a clean desktop, but find that the Volume gadget is just what I needed for a touch screen. Just touch directly onto the volume or mute desired.

I find this app (http://apps.microsoft.com/windows/e...h-touch-gestures_image_touchme-gesture-studio) very useful for adjusting volume/brightness etc, using swipe gestures.
How much is it? Store says "Free" but it isn't (hate that because the functions advertised as "free" clearly are not).
