I have a dell USB disk drive does not connect to SURFACE 3 any one know if they are compatible or if any USB disk drive will work

I use my old Samsung DVD USB with my surface pro 3 without problems, and it write DVDs ok.

As I recall I have an LG USB DVD drive that works with my SP3, but I use it plugged into the MS Dock when my SP3 is in the dock - don't recall whether the DVD drive will work plugged straight into the SP3's USB port or not.

I use multiple Seagate USB external drives (2x desktop, 1x portable) and when plugged in to my s3, they are read and can be accessed without a problem.

When I need to read a CD/DVD I use one shared from a desktop across my network. You can also use Windows 10 to extract the files to a thumb drive.
