Anyone dare install Win 11 beta on their Surface Pro 6?

On my Surface Book 2 I made sure I have the same or equivalent startup apps and services for Windows 11 as I did for Windows 10. I have a second Surface Book 2 still on Windows 10 for direct comparison. Startup takes 9 seconds on Windows 11 compared to 19 seconds with Windows 10. It indeed...

Anyone has been waiting for SP8?

I will be watching for the 8 also, but remain VERY happy with the performance of the Surface Book 2 15". The great performance is probably why this product remains after generations of other Surface devices come and go.

    touchscreen no longer responds

Your touchscreen going out occasionally since you've owned the Surface probably indicates a hardware problem you've had since the beginning. I hope you get satisfaction out of a warranty.

    USB-C Charging and Overheating?

All laptops have this vulnerability, as also do non OEM chargers using the Surface Connector. Here is a quote from a DELL laptop support website: The temperature gets really high with a USB-C dock/charger plugged in and no CPU usage. Its very very hot to touch and my measurement suggests...

    USB-C Charging and Overheating?

No, the cable and connector can handle the current. The smaller conduits are in the PC.

    USB-C Charging and Overheating?

USB-C is generally unregulated current, at a steady voltage. That is why USB-C chargers (plugs, bricks, adapters) show their wattage. But “bigger” carries a price of efficiency and wear-and-tear. The small conductors (wires, circuit paths) when using a high wattage charger dissipate heat due...

    touchscreen no longer responds

Have you tried a clean (factory level) install of Windows? OneDrive will have your files, and will restore them after you sign in to the reset PC. The first step in this process to try is Reset my PC, “Keep my files option”. if that doesn’t work, Reset my PC, “Remove everything” option.

I have a surface pro4 laptop The drive is full, but the contents only adds up to 25gb

One or more things may be happening here: - Your drive may be partitioned into two or more virtual drives. This is unlikely if no other drive letters are showing up on your PC besides the external. - You may have multiple backups stored away on the C drive which are hidden. - OneDrive may not...

Marvell Avastar Bluetooth adapter keeps dropping after 10 min

Try a Windows Reset (Keep my files) option. Since the driver doesn’t seem to be your issue, maybe a Windows setting was corrupted.

    Resetting surface pro 7 problem

You may choose to stop now, and leave it to the new owner to install Windows 10 using either option. If you are willing to spend another 20 minutes or so, though, I would choose "Local reinstall". This will load the latest version of Windows 10 which was running on your SP7, without any user...

Notes from a long time Surface user

The Surface Book 2 15" (I have two) continues to be a reliable machine for me over several years. On the expensive side, but apparently on the quality side, too.

    Cursor Disappears In SurfacePro

Perhaps your System Registry setting has become corrupted. Try this: Launch the Run dialog box (Win + R) and type “regedit” (no quotes). Then hit Enter. Use the arrow keys to select Yes in the UAC prompt box and then press Enter. When the Registry Editor opens, press Tab to go to the search...

    So... Windows 11!

Another oversight is with projecting to a wireless display. After pressing Windows+P , one may choose to duplicate, or extend the display, but the option to then connect to a wireless display is missing. That must be done separately using Settings, Display, Connect to a Wireless Display .

    So... Windows 11!

Up to now, Windows 11 developers seem to have overlooked the simple "default apps" or "default applications" setting. Instead, a user must deliberately search apps by filetype, such as ".mp3" or ".HTML" rather than a list of default mail, browser, editor, media apps.

    auto rotate issues

Sorry that did not work out. Assuming that you have all the latest software and firmware installed (Windows Update), either a complete re-install of Windows (Reset, but with the “remove everything” option, or waiting for Windows 11 (this Fall) are your next steps. What model Surface do you have?

    auto rotate issues

Which Surface model do you have? When I had an Surface Pro 3, auto-rotate was malfunctioning just as you describe. It took me a couple of weeks to finally do a 'Reset' of Windows ("Keep my files" option) which cleared it up.
