Surface Pro 4 - Intel Core M

i wonder how much thinner they can make it. i was optimistic because the fan takes up a lot of space as does the Core i3/5/7 motherboard or whatever they call it.

but when i look at the thickness of the USB port and the keyboard magnetic hinge, I wonder. maybe they could shave a millimeter more off of it, but is that enough to matter? it would also render the dock incompatible, unless they provide spacers.

personally, I'd be happy if they kept the same size chassis but just made it lighter. others may prefer same size/weight but more battery. guess we'll see next year

The next version should have a USB type C connector and adapter(s) for other type connections.

USB Type C vs Standard connector. They may have to do something innovative with the keyboard connector... another adapter that locks onto the keyboard.

To be honest, I'm extremely satisfied with the Pro3. The only thing that I wish it had was NFC or a similar technology to allow recognition of hospital badges. This would allow deployment everywhere in the hospital and absolutely kill the need for any other computer.

The new iPad Air 2 has everything but they figured NFC was not necessary...so even the device with the kitchen sink included doesn't include NFC.

I guess it is too specialised.

Saw that it was also left out of the fruit pad. Also read that the reason it wasn't included in the Surface as a result of the Mg chassis. Seems easy enough to tap the glass screen and not the back of the computer.

The badges that we use in hospitals are NFC. Hours are spent by staff logging into the system as a result of ridiculous auto sign offs. NFC would please both the staff and the corporate compliance departments.

I really hope that the capability is included in the Surface 4. These tablets are being used everywhere in health care. The new OS will make them even more frequently seen.

The Surface Pro 4 will be revealed in January 2015 during CES 2015 (January 6-9) perhaps and will release a month later in February 2015. There is a 8 month release cycle starting from the first Surface Pro. It will come with a Broadwell-U processor in i3, i5, i7 variants and small improvements overall. Its worth the wait.

Source please :)

I mean no offense but that sounds like something straight out of an Apple Marketing disinformation campaign to discourage sales so forgive my skepticism.

No source just speaking my mind, it is a pattern that hasn't been written about in any articles on the web. You can Google the release dates of each surface pro, I don't think it's coincidence that they release one everyone 8 months. And thanks that just means I write well.

My HTC One M7 (phone) had NFC, and it has a metal back of some kind. NFC worked fine on it.

I think that MS and Apple have just not been sufficiently motivated up to this point to include it.

The SP3 actually has NFC Hardware, it is built into the Marvell Wireless Adapter, it hasn't been activated...you will also notice that the Antenna Bay at the top is Polycarbonate.
