Surface 3 hang in docking station

Hi folks. Love my Surface 3, it performs well enough for my needs. I purchased the Microsoft Docking Station about 2 months ago and it's been working fine until about 2 weeks ago. If I leave the Surface powered on in the docking station overnight, at some point, the Surface hangs, or freezes, and requires a hard power off to get it back. I have no issues while using the Surface while it's in the docking station, it seems to be if the device sits in the docking station for long periods of time without use. Any input would be appreciated.

Update: Appears that it only happens if I power the monitor off while the Surface in left in the docking station. Leaving the monitor on the Surface does not hang.
