SP3 Malware?

Surfing and Internet usage on Surface Pro 3 is deteriorating by leaps and bounds.

Speed and performance seem perfectly adequate but I get so many pop ups with sound its unbelievable. I can be working for 1/2 hr and all of a sudden advertising comes from my speakers- if I open up the internet links (not in desktop but where favorites reside) I have to close out the last 15 sites I had open to finally shut off the page that - for some reason- just decided to load up advertising and start playing. If I have music on- I get BOTH.

Even on this surface forums- I get a stinking popup that MUST run for 8 seconds before I can X close it. Half the time clicking the X opens up a damn add page.

Every time I move from one forum topic to another- the SAME add pops up and must run for 8 seconds. RELENTLESS I turn off the sound but eventually the footprint of the add is so large and the changing screens piss me off till I just leave.

Windows Defender finds nothing. Hit Man Pro finds nothing.

Is this, in fact, the new internet? Its like commercials on cable.

Any input would be appreciated, Thx
Tim

I received THIS pop up this morning: Is your pc running slow or displaying unwanted adds? Call a Microsoft specialist to run a free diagnostic scan to clean and optimize your system. ???

Sounds like a scam

I've been using Malwarebytes where I work for many years now. It is great. I assume the OP is not indicating that the SP3 is the culprit causing all the popups. The Internet & emails are getting more dangerous every day. You must be vigilant when surfing the Internet and never get in a hurry and click on items without thoroughly reading the consequences and even then do at the risk of bringing onto your system some malware or virus.

I'm rebuilding a computer this morning that Malwarbytes found over 30 trojans installed on.

Hard to keep track... are you the same person that posted you were using TOR. there's your entry point. or maybe your just SPAMing the forum with multiple posts.

I run Malwarebytes and SpyBot, they seem to find pretty much everything. If there is still an issue maybe do a restore to an earlier point.

What browser do you use?

Also check Task Manager - startup items may show something, and the running processes tab is an easy place to spot these things. Normally they don't hide themselves well.

You have got some major spyware, malware, or virus activity going on. I have no idea what you're clicking on when you surf...

For starters, like other have said download Malwarebytes and and run a full scan, deleting whatever it finds, then do it all over again a second time.

Next, find a good paid antivirus (sounds like you need some reinforcing beyond what the free ones do) and quit using Windows Defender.

We would like a list of the sites you're visiting as well ... so we can be sure to add them to the block list. :)

no kidding! I go to a lot of places and have not 1 trouble and some places have been shady... I cant fathom why some people have this happen to them!!
