How can I force my RT to update?
It knows there are updates and says it will install them soon.
I am on 8.1, 8.0 let me update & shut down.

I just updated my Surface RT 8.1 and it's the same, i.e., after downloading and installing the update, it asked me to restart my device.

From the Start Screen, type update and then select check for updates, will open the desktop control panel for Windows Update.

To force the install though, go into View Details and click Install...
