Modern Word Processor Discussion Thread

OMG I think I just figured out a way to "cheat" regarding real time spell check. See, putting in real time spell check would mess with the base code of the document format of my app, and that would cause unforeseen instabilities. I'll continue to work on that, but in the mean time I just figured out a quick and dirty way for real time spell check without messing with app base stability.

Stay tuned!

I just did a search and could not find a powerpoint (ppt) processor. Looks like that will be my next project. I'll probably work on these 2 parallel to each other.

Too bad there's already a really good spreadsheet app. I wanted create a spreadsheet app like excel. Was looking forward to it.

Hi good, I downloaded the trial version of your app and I used it a little bit. Here's what I noticed.
Overall it's a well implemented app and I really love it. Congrats! However, I noticed when I opened a document in portrait orientation and called up the onscreen keyboard the page did not resize automatically. I had to zoom in (out? Always confuses me) to enlarge the page in order to be able to scroll up and get to the last line on the page.

I also like the drawing feature and how it retained its form even when I viewed the saved page in Ms. word, however, the inking lags heavily after a few words. In fact, after about five words, the strokes start going haywire and making phantom strokes and up to 10 words it becomes unusable. Now I understand it is a very fresh app and many apps at the first release had this problem even the stock Reader app, but it would be nice if you can work on the inking feature. To be sure, drawing is ok, but I guess users would also need the label or write something about their drawing.

Good job!

Can you add an option to make the tabs larger and more readable? On a 12-inch screen with a Twitter feed on the
left, that would really help.

I was referring to the menu tabs. The way they display now I can't read them so I all I can do click on one to see what options the menu actually has. As a matter of fact all important elements should be optionally resizable. I'm having problems on a 12-inch screen. Imagine how users of 8-inch tablets must feel.

Actually, my test device is an 8 inch tablet.

Can you post a screenshot? I need to know what I should do.

The problem with making things resizable is it affects everything else. When I make a button resizable, I have to make sure when the user resizes it it doesn't kill some other element. I will definitely work on it. Just need to know what I'm dealing with.

I think the menu implementation is good the way it is. Click on a menu button and the tools drop down. Resizing will mess things up in my opinion.

Well, I think I can make it happen. I'll add some choices in the global settings to allow the user to change the size of the menu buttons.

Hehe, my app is getting more customizable than the official MS stuff.
