Has the surface totally replaced your tablet?

Bluestacks allows you to run Android Apps on Windows or Mac. There is another option for this but the name escapes me at the moment.

BlueStacks App Player lets you run your favorite mobile
apps fast and fullscreen in your browser and on PC or Mac.

You are talking about Andy I guess...
It works as well but it requires a little bit more techy-knowledge and I there are some apps which are running not smooth or ntot at all. I still prefer Bluestacks to be honest.
But for those who would like to try: http://www.andyroid.net/

Might want to check out DuOS at http://www.amiduos.com/

I found it to be much smoother than Bluestacks, although equally resource intensive. I have yet to encounter an Android app that doesn't run well on it, but again it's a resource hog.

Yesterday I sold my iPad Air and last week my 2013 15" Retina MBP i7. Even though in terms of performance the rMBP blows away the SP3 (I have an i7 512), the portability, usability, and flexibility of the SP3 made me not want to use it anymore. The ipad just seemed redundant and I stopped using it pretty much as soon as I got the Surface. However, I'm still keeping my iPad Mini 2 LTE as a device to throw in my coat pocket.

If they come out with an SP4 mini with built in LTE then my mobile computing life would be complete.

Well, You can still get LTE by using an ugly USB device on the side of the Sp3 though. Obviously i7 quad > i7 dual

Yes, I'm aware of that. What I'd like is a device that connects to the cellular network without me having to do anything except turn it on (like an ipad with cellular). At it is now, I have to wake up my phone, go into settings, turn on the hotspot function, and then wait for the SP3 to see it and then connect. When I'm done I have to remember to turn off the hotspot.

It's more a matter of convenience than being able to have any sort of connectivity or not.

That's one area where Apple wins... the connectivity between iPhone's & iPad's is fantastic when it comes to tethering.

For most of the first couple of months I had my SP3 my iPad saw little use. There was even a short point where I considered the fact that even I, a big iPad fan, could give up my iPad as I began to allow for the quirks of using the Surface as a tablet. That point has passed, however, and I still find a place for my iPad in my daily use. The iPad is still by far the easier device to pick up if I just want to sit down and read the news, browse a few websites quickly, listen to some music on my home wireless system, video-chat with the grandparents, reference a recipe while cooking, etc.

Pretty much how Bluetooth tether works for me; I turn it on and forget about it.......

That's exactly right. OSX-iOS tethering, too. If Win 10 had a feature like that it'd make me seriously consider switching phone platforms.

For those who aren't familiar, how it works is once a client device has connected to a hotspot, that hotspot connection from then on shows up as a network connection and you can bring it up without having to touch the host device. Pretty much the next best thing to having a device with its own cell radio.
