I noticed that there is a "Firmware" tab in the Device Manager of the Control Panel. If you select the "Firmware" tab it has a sub tab named "Surface Pro Embedded Controller Firmware". If you open it up and choose the "Driver" tab, it has a button called "Roll Back Driver". If it allows you to roll back the firmware driver, perhaps that would fix your problem until the update is released next Tuesday.
