I'm Leaning Towards the i5 Over the M3

In another thread, I documented a battery test that concluded that the M3 will typically last about 14% longer than the i5/4/128. Despite that advantage, I'm leaning towards the i5. Here's why. Faster - Everything seems to happen a little bit faster. It's not a huge difference, but it's...

    Battery Drain ?

I agree, you should not be getting that much battery loss during hibernation. You're correct, in terms of battery use, hibernation is the same as shut down. My guess is that you're not in hibernation the whole time. How does your SP4 shut down? Are you using the default battery settings?

How To Go Home On a Tablet?

Thanks. I was wondering how to make the keyboard icon show up on the task bar. But there's no Cntl-Home on the virtual keyboard.

How To Go Home On a Tablet?

Yes, but not Cntl-Home, as far as I can see. Yes. If there's not a data entry line, I don't know how to bring up the virtual keyboard.

How To Go Home On a Tablet?

Is there a quick way to get back to the top of a long webpage without scrolling all the way? On a PC keyboard you can just hit the Home key.

My Surface pro 3 i5 vs my surface pro 4 i5

You are correct, in that, the fan on the SP4 i5/4/128 doesn't come on much at all. The reason I prefer the M3 is the battery life. With normal usage, the M3 will get about 50 minutes more battery life than the SP4 i5/4/128.

United Airlines Wi-Fi App Doesn't Work on SP4?

I was able to download a different United app, but it's very limited. All it seems to do is the same stuff you see on their website.

United Airlines Wi-Fi App Doesn't Work on SP4?

I went to the MS store to download the United Airlines app to use Wi-Fi on my flight. I got a message that says "This app will not work on your device" and "this app needs hardware your device doesn't have." What hardware am I missing? The app is for Win 8, but it says it will work on Win 10.

Battery calibration - do I need to run dead to calibrate battery?

That equates to just under 4 hours of run time, which is on the low end. You should get at least 6 hours with an M3, IMO. To see what's using up your battery go to: Settings => System => Battery Saver => Battery use One thing I noticed is that if I charge up my SP4 at night it doesn't start...

    Sleep or Shut Down?

I put both the M3 and the i5 into hibernation for the last 2 nights in a row. On both of the next mornings, about 10 hours later, both were 1% lower than the night before. Extrapolating, that's about 2% to 3% per day.

Tempted to return my sp4 and get a SB

Here's another reason to keep your SP4. The SB is first generation. From what I've read, it has even more issues (and perhaps more significant issues) than the SP4. But more importantly the SB issues may be hardware issues, that cannot be resolved with software updates, but will only be truly...

    Sleep or Shut Down?

OK, yes, I've seen that term used. I did a quick search and it's actually a Microsoft specification that started with Windows 8. The bottom line is that Connected Standby means that your computer is in a Sleep state and is available for action. So, Connected Standby is a special form of Sleep.

    Sleep or Shut Down?

Here's my interpretation of the Sleep setting. Whenever the SP4 goes to sleep, you tell it how many minutes before it goes into hibernation. For example, you have selected for your SP4 to go to sleep when you close the lid and to hibernate after 30 minutes of sleep. So, when you close the...

    Sleep or Shut Down?

OK, now I'm confused. When I go into Advanced Setting, the only option under Sleep is when to hibernate. I presume that by "standby" you mean Sleep, correct?
