You keep calling it 'waste' energy - Why? All PCs, including gaming ones will ramp up and down power use so will only using significant power when gaming.

I'm not sure I understand the point here. Gaming needs much more powerful hardware than an SP4.

Disable the camera from your lockscreen. I think you go to settings, then the lockscreen section and turn off camera.

On ultra? Doubt it. You could maybe get 720p on medium-high. Maybe.

Size doesn't matter ;) It's all about resolution, if it states 2x4k then as long as those monitors match it, you should be fine.

So why not just make a laptop? They already have a very good tablet in the SP4, so why bother with this odd clipboard device? If they had just made a laptop there wouldn't be any need for any of this compromise and trying to solve a problem that they only made for themselves.

Don't worry Toshiba have taken their place. Last few I've seen have loads of crap - I counted on my last job with one and it had 26 different Toshiba bits, as well as some dvd software, trial of antivirus and other nonsense!

Under most loads I would assume yes they'd perform identically - you do mention about heating etc and that is where I think the difference will come in. We'll have to wait for shipping units to see this I guess! Beyond that, the other main difference is that the SP4 is more 'usable' by itself...

Yes but you were talking about the power draw/heat from LTE chip, not the CPU. In fact I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to connect a heat pipe from the LTE chip to the fan in Pro models too to help cool it.

No it doesn't. You used to be able to buy a bluetooth adapter to enable this kind of thing but it was discontinued. You can still get them from eBay etc if you really want it.

iPad manages LTE/4G with no extra battery use. Microsoft's specs for Surface 3 are (typically, sigh) vague but there is no difference I can find from them between the non-LTE and LTE versions. Also I wouldn't think heat is an issue, they must have a solution that worked for Surface 3.

Unlikely, most of the weight is battery.

I still can't understand why they've not put this in a Pro model yet.
