Yes. Win10 does lots of things in the background after just being installed. It may be installing updates, syncing OneDrive, deleting temporary files; it's best to let it run all night and it eventually should quite down and run cool.

Download a recovery image for your Surface

Are you trying to reset from a recovery image on a USB drive? Do you have a mSD card in the slot? That's been known to cause resetting to get stuck.

I don't think you're an I D 10 IT; I have a vague recollection of when I had a problem and had to do a reset I think I saw a restore Windows 7 as the option perhaps from the old Control Panel Recovery app which I just assumed was from the old dialog box.

If after the upgrade to Win10 you have a folder named Windows.old which is > 16GB you should able to ll back to Win8.1. After a period of time Windows will delete a lot in that folder to re-claim disk space leaving it a few hundred MBs.

I agree. Although I wouldn't recommend rinsing with water for routine cleaning, when it's something far worse than water (I did the same as you only with coffee, not rum), a quick rinse and then adequate water removal and drying is better than sticky rum.
