That's what's great about MetroIE on Windows 8.1. The whole page actually goes up when On-Screen Keyboard pops up so there's nothing covered by the keyboard while Desktop IE doesn't. You can use MS Edge BTW and it does the same page up like MetroIE minus the TPL, swipe back/forward gestures...

Or you can also use iHeartRadio app to keep the audio driver busy. It's just as efficient as Groove Music in music playback. Anyways I don't have issues with constant high CPU usage on Windows 10 and when I had 8.1.

Fortunately mine didn't suffer this excessive CPU usage bug while on connected standby. Can't go back to 8.1 without clean install now since the 1 month deadline is over...

A buggy software/OS can pretty much make a 15W TDP chip cook a motherboard without fans. If it was a Surface 3 with 2-4 W TDP Atom, it would have survived.....

System (aka ntoskrnl.exe) is using too much RAM in your case. On my 4 GB RAM/128GB storage SP3, ntoskrnl.exe is only using 100MB of RAM and I consume about 1.7 GB of RAM with 15 Tabs on IE, mail app, and playing iheartradio app in the background.

I use IE11 with TPL exclusively and fans rarely fire up. I'm running iheart radio streaming music in the background and I get 3% CPU usage on idle. Fans hasn't even turn on yet and I've been browsing for at least an hour on my i5/4GB/128GB with background apps set to ON in privacy settings.

Your CPU usage is high. It should be 0-3% CPU on idle

No CPU/fan issues for me on 10 whatsoever. Just occasional app crashes...

I bought my SP3 just one month after its launch day. Never needed a reset, very minor issues which got fixed by Windows 10 updates. I've dropped it a couple of times and it's my most reliable laptop replacement device hardware wise. Software wise, Windows 8.1 is still more stable than 10...

This problem doesn't exist on my SP3 with i5/4GB RAM. I'm running very similar apps as you right now and my CPU usage is very low ~2% while playing groove music. I guess MS just forgotten their SP2 users and just focused improving experience on the SP3

You can split screen on Tablet Mode. Swiping is replaced by Task view which IMO is not as efficient as quick switch apps for tablet use. I miss the immersive full screen that I get from 8 and its intuitive touch gestures. Other than that 10 is okay, but still much less stable than 8. See my...

I have my phone for this, but it's nice to show how Surface can be so versatile with external hardware. Heck you can even put a hundred thousand dollar analytical instrument on it and SP3 will do some cool analysis that are used in technical/manufacturing industries if one wants it.

OS X and iOS already have those features plus more so I doubt Windows 10 can even make a difference.

It's a glitch. Just remove the battery from the pen and reinsert it. It should behave normally after that.

My SP3 works perfectly fine using IE and docked to an external monitor. Probably in your and leeshor case, it's probably due to the modified hostfile for ad blocking. You need to let the ads play then you'll see the video.

Yours is probably an isolated issue since I've never had any constant high CPU on system interrupt on both 8.1 and 10
