8.1 should not have been removed during a refresh. When you install 8.1 it replaces the recovery partition so a refresh and a advanced restore stays at 8.1. I think there is a possible corrupted install here. I'd try a advanced restore or a 8.1 DVD/ISO. (Get your product key first if you try this!)

Are you confusing the Accessibility on-screen keyboard with the touch screen windows 8 one? They do seem to be different...

Have you tried just tapping in the blank box where you type your password? Sorry if that sounds silly but I have to sometimes on my S2.

I'm also having this issue. Was just going to leave it and see if it fixed itself :). Hasn't yet :(

On the updates side you can always enrol for the developer program and get updates straight away. Although my HTC 8x' battery isn't as good now I'm running WP8.1. :(. Still worth the update its much better than WP8.

Instead of using the console view to use the VM, use remote desktop. Works better and hopefully you wont have this issue.

Can you open any ports? If so just put ':0000' after the target or IP address. More secure as well.

I first purchased a Surface RT with the intention to upgrade to the Pro when it was released... but RT does 75% of what I want to get done so I really don't need a Pro like I thought I did. I do however still want one just can't justify it now.

It would bug me using a 1080p screen and lowering the res even if it didn't blur. I use 1080p at 125%DPI and find it perfect.

I know it renamed Microsoft Pixel. I haven't heard about it anymore though.

I was at a clients house recently and I poked there laptop screen... had to apologies as I did it quite hard... Id love a touchscreen desktop but cant justify the price as they are!

I couldn't ask for more from my S2 its works flawlessly all the time. Had far more problems with my RT. I did get the RT at launch but didn't get the S2 until 4 months after so I could have missed some of the issues however.

You have to tap the keyboard button near the clock in desktop mode :)

Go to Control Panel, All Items, Mail, Show Profiles and remove and recreate the Outlook profile. That should fix it.

Ive owned both and I can barely tell any difference between the two on battery life. They do take sometime to settle down though.

Remember your searching for the audio input of Windows 8.1 and not the Surface Pro2. Will greatly increase your results and they should be exactly the same...

The problems you have are nothing to do with the Surface RT but rather Windows 8. I would either Google/bing the error code you get or hard reset install the KB2871389 update then head to the store again to download 8.1.

I had a problem like this on my Surface RT and did a restore and it fixed it.
