3DMarks Scores of Surface Pro 3 Models (i3/i5/i7)

And what MS has done is actually limit the appeal by hobbling the performance Nor you... Just because your usage does not exceed the capabilities of an iPad does not mean that other users would not actually appreciate the added performance.

3DMarks Scores of Surface Pro 3 Models (i3/i5/i7)

It is intellectually dishonest to imply that the SP3's issues are due to "bad" software. Just not true (see XTU stress tests). The issue is due to the inadequate cooling solution unable to sufficiently cool the CPU.

3DMarks Scores of Surface Pro 3 Models (i3/i5/i7)

C'mon now. You really want to blame "bad" software for the SP3's throttling issues... The heart of the SP3's problems are an inadequate cooling solution brought about by MS's ill-fated desire to chase the iPad form factor. The software need not be "bad coded" to cause issues with...

Surface Pro 2 Vs 3 - Power User

Don't even bother with the i7. It offers no practical advantage over the i5 (unless, possibly, if you rig up some external cooling apparatus) Really, you need to determine if the added screen real estate and higher price of the SP3 is worth the performance hit. You mentioned that you'll be...

Longevity of the Surface product line

Personally, I think that MS made a mistake with releasing the non-pro surface. There are enough ARM based tablets with limited OSes. Plus, being so late to market, the Windows app store is not able to compete with the Apple and Android alternatives. The non-pro Surface just dilutes the brand...

Solved HELP: New Surface Pro 3 issue (Replaced SP3)

Be aware, you will likely receive a refurbished unit unless it is replaced at an MS store (not sure if store will support the accidental coverage) or if they don't have any refurbished units available (still possible since the SP3 has just been released). Simple solution - LIE!

    Blue Tooth Gamepad

While it is certainly not the cheapest, the Dualshock 4 works great. Just pair it and instal the DS4Windows software and you are good to go.

    i7 benchmarks & tests

The thing is, MS could have made they SP3 a few millimeters thicker and achieved the equivelant performance of the SP2. Instead, MS chose to chase the iPad form factor and as a result significantly hobbled the performance. No one expects a tablet to compete with a gaming laptop, just like no...

    Surprisingly Bad Gaming Performance

Waste of money. I went this route and I am ultimate dissatisfied with my choice. I thought a mobile workstation would best suite my needs, but 6 months after my purchase I got the SP1. The SP1 (now SP2) fully satisfied my mobile needs and the laptop is permanently docked. I could have...

    Surprisingly Bad Gaming Performance

If you are interested in gaming, then you will be much happier with the SP2 - and its cheaper too!

    Surprisingly Bad Gaming Performance

My fear is that MS will be tempted to go with a fanless design thus seriously limiting the performance.

Capacitive 'START' button location --- awkward?

I think that the primary motivation in moving the start button was to mimic the iPad.

The Thinkpad comparison is a little unfair, but the SP1/SP3 results are interesting.

So, the location of the CPU has been confirmed.;)

    i7 benchmarks & tests

Be aware that this is a 4200u SP2. So from these benchmarks, it looks like there is only a 10% performance increase over the 4200u SP2. And that is with the SP3 CPU hitting higher temps...

Sold on a Surface..picking up my Surface Pro 3 tomorrow!

If gaming is your goal, then I think that you will probably be happier with the SP2. I suggest googling the name of the game along with "surface pro" to see if others have been successful running the specific game on a Surface Pro. Personally, I have found the SP2 to be a reasonably capable...

    i5 & i7 surface 3 , also new surface 3

You have seen my screen name, haven't you? ;) Seriously, my negativity is really a result of disappointment. I really like the idea of the Surface Pro. I loved my SP1. Sure, it had lackluster battery life, but it exceeded my other expectations and was problem free. I bought the 256GB SP2...

Or that the SP3 would perform better than the SP2.
