No, all my prior laptops and tablets have used the more traditional plug style.
I have had several phones that use the micro-usb connector. While I definitely agree that micro-usb can be a hassle to plug in sometimes, I'm finding the Surface's connector even more so.
Speaking of which, it's now been almost two weeks and I still haven't received the free wireless charger from AT&T for my new Lumia 920. How about a wireless charging pad for the Surface? That would be sweet! Another option I would love to see is a docking keyboard base that charges and also has an extra battery ala the Asus VivoTab RT.
