Surface Pro 4 working with 2TB External HD

I have a WD My Passport 2TB, WD My Book 1TB, Toshiba Canivo 2TB and a Seagate 5TB all hooked up through a powered hub and they all work fine.

While this issue has been covered fairly well, I thought I'd add my experience the my SP3 and Seagate 1G portable drive. The drive worked fine when it was connected directly to my SP3, but failed when I used an unpowered USB hub. I then used a powered USB hub and it worked perfectly again.

I guess that unpowered hub threw it 1 toke milliamp over the line.
