Surface Battery Cover KB - backlit or not?

Thinking about waiting for it, but wondering if it is backlit. Anyone know?

From what I've seen stated it doesn't. They wanted to keep it as slim as possible and the lights likely drain battery more. I heard there was a prototype that did have it backlit. So for now, only the new touch and type cover will be backlit.

I had the same post in mind when I read the title as I had just read that info online tonight in another review.
