Recovery Drive Creation Problem

I started the process but when it got to the "connect a USB flash drive" screen it acted like I didn't have a flash drive connected. I do and it is readable by the computer, just not the recovery drive creation. It is a SanDisk 8 GB flash drive that I just reformatted. Any suggestions?

Do you have a microSD card installed? If so, remove it.

Does the flash drive have encryption software on a separate partition (hidden)??

I can't use my Kingston flash drive as a recovery drive because of this.

Perhaps it does have hidden software. I reformatted the disk first (FATS). I hate the software they put on those things.
