Microsoft Surface RT Videos (Reviews, Tips, Apps)

A very simple video: how does it take to boot the Surface RT from off?

Quick look at browser speed test between the ipad and surface rt. Results aren't good for Microsoft's new tablet I'm afraid.

I made a brief video a week or two back about the HDMI not working on a television as I would expect. Simply put, plug and play on a 720p tv was causing issues. This video has caused much debate so here is a more in depth video.

I don't remember if I mentioned this, or not but I run Win8 in a virtual machine on my desktop using VMWare 9. I have the exact same problem as you if the resolution is less that 1024x768. The 768 seems to be the key.

In this video I do establish that through a vga cable connected to a laptop I can get a 1360x768 resolution.

I'm about to do another. Give me an hour :)

So I did another video

And then 20 minutes later...

Time to eat some humble pie. I'll take 60-80% of the blame for this. HDMI cable was 'apparently' in the wrong port - though I hasten to add the Transformer Prime was always plugged into this port.

My guess is you want to change the default Internet Explorer Homepage from MSN. Here's how to do it.

Can I ask, I note with interest the other reviews you do, on you tube, none look at the definite positives of windows RT, e.g a big one for me, a fully working USB, I have tried loads of devices inc printers, usb keys, camera video camera and everything ( so far) works great. Sorry but having an apple iPad and android makes you appreciate these small points, my father in law has had an iPad for a year and still despite several printers and many apps still..can't print certain things.
Same with android, micro mini whatever you call the USB try plugging in a USB flash key and see how far you get..
Many other good plus points as well, file types, flash pages etc etc, Other issues with hotel wifi connections, problems on both apple and android that just don't exist on RT..

Bottom line can you look at these too when you review? I was thinking I was the only one that noticed these plus points

I will be getting onto these things definitely. I just did one today which does start to look at the productivity of the tablet (and it is a positive one). But I have to start with the basics and those are what you should take for granted and this tablet doesn't necessarily do that all the time.

Printers and USB is on my list. But note that the Asus transformer has a USB and does work with many devices so android isn't as inflexible as you might think.

@Alan

Same thing here. Those things you claim not to work with Android for the most part do. In fact I have yet to find any of the many Android tablet users I know that could not print to their printer and they didn't need to connect it using a USB port. The USB port on my Android tablet has been able to handle every flash drive and external hard disk I've tried. But I do agree that the iPad is hampered.

This video is about how to group your tiles into columns so you can move them about your startscreen more easily.
