Just to clear things up a bit, the Sp2 does have the spring-loaded mechanism for inserting and removing the micro-SD card (I'm not sure about the SP1, though), but the SP3 does not. It is simply slide it in and pull it out.

I used this card in my laptop all week with no problems, I put some tape on it today as discussed and put it in the Surface and hit the same issues as originally posted. Was hoping the recent firmware update may have had some improvement but doesn't look like it.
