Not seeing this anywhere else, but according to this review:

Microsoft Surface Book Review: So Good, I Might Switch Back to Windows

"an inconsistent trackpad that’s jumpy, and often too sensitive or not sensitive enough"

"The performance was bad enough that I would suggest holding off on making
any purchasing decision until you know for sure the firmware delivers
on its performance promise."

Anyone noticed that? Sounds pretty bad...

Like you said, not seeing this anywhere else. Not a reason to hold off as most of these reviews are using pre production units and not a finalized Windows 10 for the Book as has been stated by Microsoft.

I've read in a couple of places that Microsoft is aware of some issues with the trackpad and is fixing them.

I have been using Win 10 on my Macbook pro and have had the same problem. So thinking it might be Win 10 related. Have read a fix is coming as well.

The trackpad issue was only on some units. Magazines that received two reported the later units did not exhibit it. And apparently there is a software fix for the preproduction units that do have a problem.

In general, based on certain reviews, should we be worried that the initial batch of SBs might be faulty?

Could it be the case that MS rushed the release without having through QC and the initial batches contain various flaws, only to be corrected down the line in subsequent batches?

With the MS almost no questions asked replacement policy if it's not right they would make it right.

Agreed, but for those for whom the machine is their daily and ONLY driver, that can be painful for the unfortunate few who get a bad unit.
