How to go about creating a dock for my needs?

I am working without a dock (since it won't arrive until the 15th). But outside of an unsightly mess of cables, all works well. Let me describe my setup.

I have the SP3 laying face down on its type cover
I have a miniDisplayPort to DisplayPort cable connected to a Dell 22" touch screen monitor
I have a 4-port USB hub plugged into the SP3, with the following:

Mouse
Keyboard
Ethernet Adapter (not the Microsoft one, a generic model)
Cable to the monitor for the touch capability

Everything works quite well... and I'll gain no significant functionality (other than some free USB ports) when I switch over to the dock. Er, well... other than getting rid of the rats nest of cables... and the ability to quickly connect/disconnect.

With the current scenario, I can place the SP3 face up (or at any angle I want).
