External Monitor not detected after 8.1 update

I just updated my SP to 8.1 and now my external monitor is not detected.

It is connected via a mini DP to VG adaptor and was working fine before installing the update.

I tried googling, but couldn't find anything.

Anyone else have this problem? Or can suggest a solution?

[edit] It seems as though one of the Windows updates failed (Hardware update dated 5th Oct). Checking for new updates didn't try and reinstall it.
I had to manually download the driver from the Intel site and manually choose it to get the display working properly.

I used THIS ONE - Intel's Updated Graphics Drivers for Ivy Bridge, Haswell Stomps Out Bugs in Windows 7 and 8 | Maximum PC

Extract the zip or exe and then update the driver manually in Windows and say you wil select the driver yourself and that you have a disk.
