did firmware update break anyone's power options?

I don't remember having problems with my power options until recently when I did the latest firmware update. I used to have my options set to dim the screen at 3 minutes and to shut off the screen & sleep at 5 minutes. my surface never dims the screen anymore. it seems to immediately shut the screen off and sleep at whatever time I have set to dim the screen. gotta do some more troubleshooting but does anyone who did the update have similar problems??

looks like restoring the power option to default and re-setting my settings did the trick. getting the screen dimming and no sudden sleep anymore.
