Chrome 64 Bit

Does anyone know, if the battery draining was fixed?

No, not really. There are several active threads at the Chromium Issues website about improving the power usage. Reading the threads I would say it's a work in progress, mostly in the early stages. It will certainly take some months until a significant set of patches will be released to the (experimental) Chrome Dev channel. Beta and stable channel are always some weeks behind.

I'm a confident Chrome user, but I don't think that Chrome will ever be as battery friendly as the MUI IE. Chrome has to support several OS while the IE team can focus on Windows. MS has put a lot of effort in their development tools, e.g. the Energy Consumption Profiler in Visual Studio 2013. That's paying off.

I wish MUI IE and Chrome would get together and make a baby taking the best parts of each.

I'm using Chrome Version 39.0.2138.3 dev-m (64-bit) and have no heat or battery issues. I'm also using extensions that disable ads and tracking, which im guessing eat up the cpu.

The fix has been marked for Milestone 38, so it should be included in the next major Chrome release.

As far as I can see the fix works fine. Looking at Intel's Power Gadget, Chrome's power consumption in light or nearly idle use seems to be reduced. I didn't have a chance to test how much longer the battery will last on a typical workday.

Release 38 is here, same problem ? im on Chrome Canary

Smooth Scrolling in desktop mod ? / TouchKeyboard popup ?
