I did already manually add the Certificate to my surface. However, it seems to me that there needs to be a way to tell the Mail app to use SSL...or, does it just always use SSL?

Same here, no issues connecting to Exchange server, just updated security policy received as per company policy

I use gmail with Imap across all my devices and needed to put in the minimum of details for it to configure itself, works like a charm. No pun intended.
