72Mbps, or Windows cannot detect network proxy settings

First off, it's all my fault. My 5 Ghz band was working fine. Brand new Asus AC87-R router, 500+ Mbps. 2.5Ghz band only gets 72Mbps, but it's not an issue: 5Ghz is ROCKIN'

And then I did it.

I got suckered into buying minecraft for my 8 y/o. After an hour or so, he asked me to help him, because he could not figure out crafting.

My entire universe changed at that moment.

So now, hopelessly addicted to Minecraft, I install it on my SP3. Apparently it runs on Java, so I installed Java. Played about 9 hours straight on the SP3 without any problems.

Upon restart, however, I keep immediately getting "Windows cannot detect network proxy settings". It won't auto repair, I don't even have it set to USE a proxy. In the past few days, it's gotten progressively worse. I suppose I could uninstall Java and see if it fixes it...

My Recently found minecraft addiction won't let me.

Any suggestions???

[PS: if nobody hears back from me in 3 days, call an interventionist >.>

Just an update, I went into msconfig and disabled java updater on startup. Since then and several reboots later, the issue has not rematerialized.
