Just got an SP 4 - flawless fantastic computer

The fan is certainly more prone to running while plugged into AC. A good example that will set mine into a roar is connecting to a Microsoft wireless display adapter and streaming SD video while web browsing. Granted ambient temp in my house is like 77 degrees -_- so that doesn't help.

Just got an SP 4 - flawless fantastic computer

Just bought one also, upgrading from an SP3 i5 8GB. Debating keeping it; while the fan might not be as loud as the SP3 nor does the chassis get nearly as hot, the fan does run a great deal of the time on the Sp4. Should have probably gone with the M3 as the fan noise seems to be the biggest...

Surface Pro 3 Screen Calibration Values

You can use any of the 'official' Intel drivers. Found on their website, you can even use their update/scan tool. You'll have to install them manually. There are lots of threads and youtube videos explaining this.

Surface Pro 3 Screen Calibration Values

Cool thanks! Overall I like your profile. I can't tell if my grey is a bit off though. Sometimes it feels a little too 'blue' A perfect example of this is the right click menu for the desktop. The background grey seems off, or maybe all my other screens are incorrect as they were not...

Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter + SP3 = no 5.1 surround?

Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter + SP3 = no 5.1 surround?

Have yet to see anyone achieve 5.1 with the MWDA... yet MS continues to market this funtionality :(

    System Firmware update

Epic fail, the Intel Driver Update apparently breaks the MWDA (Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter) MS's own miracast device. Just wow! Confirmed works fine when rolling back driver 10.18.10.3496 or when using the latest from Intel 10.18.14.4080

Are people exaggerating loud fan noise?

Thanks for your contribution to the topic, just read your experience.. For your information I love my device. Get over myself? Not sure I follow you. How is my experience any less significant than yours or the OPs? How do I "seem determined that no one can have a different opinion"?.

Are people exaggerating loud fan noise?

Thanks for your feedback, would you mind plugging your SP3 into AC power and then playing a 1080P youtbe video for about 20 minutes with volume muted? Let me know if you still can't hear the fan spinning.

Are people exaggerating loud fan noise?

Thanks for the continued sarcasm. I would ask you to perform the stated use case again just to be sure. You apparently have a magical SP3, either that or the i3 version has considerable less fan noise, which might be likely as it produces less heat. It's certainly not 'deafening' -not that...

Are people exaggerating loud fan noise?

Play a 1080p youtube video for more than 10 minutes while on AC power volume muted and tell me you can't hear the fan.

Are people exaggerating loud fan noise?

Different category of products, no comparison what-so-ever can be made..

Are people exaggerating loud fan noise?

It's not totally exaggerated, I for one feel the fan is much too aggressive while plugged in.

When Connected to power, fan runs almost always

I can confirm very similar behavior on a i5 8gb SP3. While plugged in my fan will run simply from the screen saver while everything else is idle. It also runs much more aggressively while plugged in during video playback. When on battery life the fan behaves much more normally. For instance...
