If she's used to an Android tablet, get ready for some disappointment! The voice search capabilities of Windows are not even close to the ones from Android. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. I love my Surface Pro and I love Windows, but it's not for everyone.

Most likely this is hardware related, so reinstalling Windows will have no effect. But I would definitely give it a try. Also check that you have the latest firmware updates installed!

While doing some more research myself (and waiting for my new device to return) I've found that other people refer to it as "bright spots" rather than "spots of backlight bleed". If I then search Google for "surface pro bright spots" I find some people with similar issues...
