    OpenVPN

Probably the most straightforward workaround is to Remote Desktop to an x86 device that does have OpenVPN. We've some clients that we connect to with OpenVPN, but I haven't had a need to do it on my Surface yet. I might have a look around today.

    File / cloud sync.

As an alternative, the recent update to the SkyDrive app on iOS has an option to backup photos to SkyDrive (much the same as DropBox). Would that help?

What format is it? Reformat it as NTFS.

Master List - Things Surface RT Inexplicably Incapable of Doing

Sounds like the OP is something of a niche user.

    occasional bt disconnections?

I've got a Wedge mouse and it's been rock solid - never had an issue with disconnects.

SkyDrive is Killing My Hard Drive

The toggle switch for "all files offline" is broken in Windows 8.1. A reboot seems to clear whatever state you set it at and it reverts to the other. To check it, from within the SkyDrive Modern UI app, check the settings.

Next Windows Release Codenamed 'Threshold,' May Further Unify Microsoft Systems

Good stuff. I like RT, but it'll disappear gradually.

Installed MS Outlook and now both this and mail are running

Outlook can be set to store its mailbox file, or PST files, on the SD card if you're worried about space. For the OP, am I right that you're getting Calendar and Mail notifications sliding in for both Mail app and Outlook? You can turn one/other off easily enough. Not got my Surface in front of...

    Surface RT for work

Many thanks for the clarification! I simply can't understand how I lived without OneNote and Outlook on Surface, it's genuinely transformed the way I work. And to know I'm not in any licence violation makes me happy.

    Compatible Printers

HP LaserJet CP2025 works from Surface RT over WiFi/shared from another machine running as a print server. Another thing to look for might be a printer that has the email-to-print function (whereby your printer has a unique email address, you email your file to that, it gets printed). That...

    Surface RT for work

One thing that might help a business case to get yourself a Pro - if you use any of the Office apps on the RT, I believe they're not licensed for work/business use. Strange choice by MS - give you productivity software but not a license to use it to be productive.

    Skydrive Upload / Download Pending

Check Microsoft's site - there's dozens of threads, SkyDrive in 8.1 is very, very broken. Some have had joy by booting into safe mode and deleting the local SkyDrive folder and letting it all download again. For me, any changes to Office files that are in SkyDrive just tells me that the server...

wedge touch mouse not turning off

Mine stays on too. It's so it can be used to wake the Surface. Battery lasts for months anyway so I've not worried about it.

Wil Sandisk 128GB Extreme SD SDHC Memory Card Class 10 fit in SP2 and work fine?

None yet. Only up to 64GB. When I look around it seems that a few manufacturers suggested they might start shipping them last year, but none did. Must be more complicated than they thought.

Any recommendatio for a User ID/Password Manager for Modern UI IE?

You've understood correctly. IE in Modern UI supports no add-ons, toolbars etc. It's locked down. Hence LastPass and other password vault apps have their own browser.

Any recommendatio for a User ID/Password Manager for Modern UI IE?

I don't think what you're after is possible - IE is very locked down in Modern UI. I use RoboForm which I quite like. My work uses LastPass, but it's unusable if you have more than a few dozen logins and its Modern UI app will only show you the first few items if you have them neatly in folders.

    SkyDrive Offline

Curious, why would having it as NTFS be a bummer?

    microsd card problem

Not a SanDisk, but mine starting doing that. Reformatted as NTFS (think it was exFAT originally) and it's been stable ever since.

    Outlook 2013 on S2 question

If you launch the Search Charm (either from the Touch cover or swipe in from the right) and search for Calendar it should find it, if it's installed. It may have been reorganised to the second apps screen below the main one?
