SP4 us version in the uk

I bought my SP4 i7 version from an eBay seller and it was listed as an import, but was located in the UK so I had no duties to pay. Saved about £400 over the retail cost. Another good thing was, when I registered it with Microsoft, it says I have warranty and support until 2018. A couple of...

Which Surface Pro 4 issues remain?

Have you or anyone else ever had an issue with the sound driver? Sometimes on my SPi7 my sound will stop working and i will have a red X showing on the sound icon. I have to reboot or enable / disable in device manager to get it working again.

    Question about included power supply

Would be interested to see what you find. I believe the sp4 dock has a 90w charger. So the sp4 should be able to charge and run at full load at the same time with this adapter. Unless of course, the Surface itself is limited to only draw so much power from the adapter.

Surface Pro 4 i7-6650U power throttling issue?

That's good to know. Thanks for the tests. Now to wait for the release of the SB in UK so I can buy a 65w adapter.

Surface Pro 4 i7-6650U power throttling issue?

Seems to drain more when using the IGP as that drains a lot more power than just the CPU alone.

Surface Pro 4 i7-6650U power throttling issue?

I'm more concerned with the fact that when the i7 is under load it will discharge the battery even when plugged in with the standard 36w charger. It drains quite quickly at about 25% per hour if I run games. You say you tried the 65w surface book adapter and the dock? Does this alleviate the...

    Question about included power supply

I have found that the standard 36w power adapter is not sufficient to even power the i7 at full load. It needs to use the battery to get the remaining power required which causes the battery to drain even when plugged in when under load. So if I have a device plugged into the charger and run...

    New Intel drivers available

You can do this with almost any desktop app if you enable the settings as in this screenshot:

"headphones or speakers aren't plugged in?"

I'm having this issue with my pro 4 i7. Seems to happen when skipping forward or back in music tracks and occasionally when watching videos on YouTube. You can disable the Realtek device in device manager and then re-enable and the sound will come back.

Have you tried creating a custom resolution in the Intel control panel and setting the game to run at that resolution?

Help installing Intel HD Graphics Control Panel

What I find weird is the Intel beta drivers will randomly freeze up my surface during certain video streaming like YouTube or twitch and sometimes using simple desktop applications. However, the Microsoft version of the same driver has been rock-solid. So I've stuck with that one now. Not too...

Help installing Intel HD Graphics Control Panel

Download Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows® 7/8.1/10* [15.40] Download the .zip version of the above. Extract it somewhere and use the device manager - "have disk" method to install it. Ive used this one in the past but it seems to have random (display driver stops responding and has...

Surface Pro 4 i7-6650U power throttling issue?

The new surface dock has a 90w charger with it. I wonder if this would alleviate the battery drain on a fully loaded 25w i7 when plugged in. Does anybody with an i7 have the new dock and is willing to do a few tests?

i7 battery drain whilst plugged in

Shame... Not available in UK at the moment. I think they are released in April over here.

Surface Pro 4 i7-6650U power throttling issue?

I have tested mine and downclocked my i7 CPU to 1.8ghz using windows power options and ran heaven bench whilst XTU is open. It starts off at 25w TDP as normal but eventually, it will drop back to 15w without a fan. (takes a little longer) Something else I have found out recently, If you use a...

i7 battery drain whilst plugged in

I think I have figured out what is happening, The i7 CPU has a 25w TDP so when running games, it is using 10 watts over what the power supply can handle. (Intel XTU shows it using 25w) If I limit the CPU to use 15w only like the i5 version and run the same game again, the battery doesn't drain...

Official I received my Surface Pro 4

Thanks. If I play an intensive game on mine with a full battery for an hour, it will show 80% when I've finished the game. This is with the adapter plugged in.

Official I received my Surface Pro 4

I have the same version. Can you check to see if your battery drains whilst plugged in when doing anything CPU intensive for a short while?

i7 battery drain whilst plugged in

It is the standard 36w one as far as I can see. (the one that comes in the original sealed box)

i7 battery drain whilst plugged in

It only drains when running something intensive, so plugged in and not doing anything just charges it as normal. It seems to charge normally from flat to full in about 2.30 to 3 hours
