My sf3 i7 came default encryption enabled. I disabled it after few days.

May be the device is simply not a good fit for you. In many cases, rather than adapting to a different way of doing things people doesn't want to change how things get done.

It does not matter which way you plug it, it should always charge. if it doesn't charge one way, while it only charges on other, you might just have issue with the device.

The type cover does have issue. you can detach and reattach it. that usually take care of the issue. it's not SF3. it's the same issue found on sf1 &2. I think it's OS thing.

This device is so new. I have not heard anyone mentioned about glass replacement cost. Just a guess, it might be few hundreds bucks. I would contact Microsoft or stop by the store. they might just fix it for free.
