Sustained High CPU Usage is Back

I've installed the big updates from today and the detaching/attaching keyboard cpu usage of the Windows Driver Foundation is still there. Disabling Sdo Sensor V2, however, does the trick and doesn't seem to affect anything at all.

    Very Dissatisfied With SP4

I had to do an exchange within the first week because my keyboard port failed. Other than that, the screens have been great, no issues with wireless range so far, no flickering, no hard resets required. You probably have a malfunctioning unit. I wonder if there's high rate of hardware defects...

Does anyone's device make random popping sounds?

    Yep, get that very occasionally.

My Track pad isn't working as im typing this...

I've had problems with either the touchpad or touchscreen not working maybe 4 times so far and it seemed to happen when waking the device from sleep where the keyboard attachment state was different from when it was put to sleep (ie. the keyboard was detached before putting it to sleep but then...

Solved SP4 Still Active In Sleep

While I had the problem, this was the case for me. I would put it to sleep before I left for work, get to work, and pull it out of my bag pretty hot with a significant chunk of battery gone. Are you fully updated? That is what might have helped for me. The alternative reason for the problem...

Solved SP4 Still Active In Sleep

As I slept, I had my SP4 in sleep with Edge on Facebook, the Facebook app also open, Word, Excel, OneNote, Skype, and Mail open: still using only 0.5-1% battery per hour. I think that this issue is solved for now which is a relief since I hate having to worry about whether I'll have enough...

is anyone else unaffected by battery drain problem & did you manually solve it?

I used to have battery drain during sleep but then my keyboard port died and I got a full system replacement and then there were the updates on Monday that happened on the same day that I got the replacement. Now, my battery drains at about 0.5-1% per hour in sleep instead of 5-15%.

Solved SP4 Still Active In Sleep

Alright, so I left my device in sleep with Wifi on standby with Skype now installed and running. Over 10.5 hours, it drained 9% (or roughly 0.85% per hour). This is now what I expect from a connected sleep mode, and I'm quite happy that the battery is no longer vaporizing. I will now test sleep...

Solved SP4 Still Active In Sleep

Yesterday, I did an exchange because the keyboard port was dying, installed a lot of my usual programs, and then left it in sleep overnight with the Facebook app and Edge still open. Over 8 hours, it only used 4% (or 0.5% per hour) which is right on what I expect out of sleep mode. This is with...

New SP4 Firmware update 11/2 aslo for the Surface Book too.

Sleep battery usage also seems resolved (or it was my faulty unit acting up). I put it to sleep before I left work and, 1 hour later, it only used ~1% (probably less - 87% went to 86%). The scientist in me is a little upset that this major update came on the same day that I had to do a...

New SP4 Firmware update 11/2 aslo for the Surface Book too.

Had to do an exchange to replace my "old" Surface Pro 4 due to the keyboard port failing. Installed all updates first thing on this new one, including this firmware update, and I haven't noticed any colour changes in Edge yet even with ads and videos playing. Hope this fixes the battery drain...

    Solved Keyboard No Longer Detected

Update: I refreshed the whole system while at the Microsoft Store and had them try other keyboards on it which didn't work while my own keyboard worked on a different Surface so our conclusion was that the keyboard port was dying, thus I am now doing an exchange for a new one.

    Solved Keyboard No Longer Detected

Tested removing the Type Cover 4 and then the OneNote problem came back. Reattached the cover and it doesn't work again. Bugger.

    Solved Keyboard No Longer Detected

The OneNote issue appears to be gone as well, so, it's possible that they were related but both magically disappeared. This has been a really strange experience. Edit: What was strange was that it seemed to coincide with me connecting to the Microsoft Store's wifi to make the post. Edit2: The...

    Solved Keyboard No Longer Detected

At the Microsoft Store and another keyboard didn't work so they said that I should back up my documents and refresh it. As I was waiting for my files to transfer to a USB stick and wanted to post an update here, my keyboard started working magically. So weird.

    Solved Keyboard No Longer Detected

As of this morning, my Type keyboard no longer seems to work... as in, I snap it on and it's seemingly not detected at all. I've tried multiple restarts and shutdowns without any change. Touch and pen still work which is how I'm making this post. I don't know if this is from yesterday's updates...

Solved SP4 Still Active In Sleep

For me, turning off both of the WiFi during sleep settings did nothing to help the battery drain during sleep. Having to close all apps before putting the device to sleep really defeats the entire point of having a sleep mode. The only reason to even offer a sleep mode (rather than a "screen...

Solved SP4 Still Active In Sleep

If I'm reading this right, the "WP WiFi Background Scanning Client" is the biggest offender, having been active for 53 minutes (?) and accounting for 55% of usage during sleep.

Solved SP4 Still Active In Sleep

I'm using the powercfg /batteryreport because it's a lot easier to interpret and post about. I tried reading through the sleep study and didn't get much out of it.

Solved SP4 Still Active In Sleep

Tested battery use last night during sleep while I slept. I went to bed at an ungodly hour of ~4:45 am (wanted to finish some C++ programming that I'm learning) with the battery at 99%. Woke up at 10:00 am and turned it on at 10:20 am to see what the battery was at. It was at 70%, thus, over 5.5...
