Day 2 with SB - Uh Oh

Evolution is a dynamic process; for every great advance, there are some stumbles. The vision of "OS agnosticism" is truly important, and will lead the world to better information management. I believe that Microsoft is truly prescient in promoting their new tech.

Solved Is my email an EAS message

The Windows Store app is integrated into Win 10. You might try one or both of the following: a) reset the Store app by going to a command prompt as administrator, and run WSReset.exe (quick, easy) b) perform a full reset of the OS (not so quick, a pain in the butt)

    One Note 2013 Issue (W10)

I am running Office 365 on Win 10; ever since the upgrade to Office 2016 I have experienced the same "disappearing ink" issue in OneNote 2016 described above. The workaround I use is to disenable the handwriting recognition in OneNote. This should be a stunning embarrassment to the OneNote...

    do you prefer windows 10

    1) Name another major OS that is even capable of being touch-enabled 2) What functionality is present in 8.1 tablet mode that can not be replicated in 10? 3) Split-screening in 10 gives far more flexibility with window size and configuration 4) Multitasking in 10-tablet mode is faster than in...

    do you prefer windows 10

The tablet mode of Windows 10 is certainly different from that of 8.1. I enjoyed 8.1, and was startled by 10 initially. Now I use Win 10 exclusively, and I have adjusted to it. I like it too. There around nuances I had to get used to in Continuum, but there is nothing I could do in tablet...

    950 or 950XL?

; I am really enjoying my Lumia Icon with Windows 10, but it does put a bulge in my pocket! I hope the 950 is a bit slimmer; I would get that phone just for the camera...

Welcome to the new Surface Book forum

This beauty is really, really tempting. I love my SP3, but I also have a laptop that already does most of what I would use the Surface Book (SB) for. (That laptop is the Spectre X360). So I really can't justify the expenditure for the SB, but of course I will probably wind up buying one anyway...

Skipped Ink strokes - OneNote ?

MS is aware of some bugs with Win 10 and OneNote 2016; I have the problem of portions of my inking just simply "disappearing" randomly. I have not seen this with OneNote MUI. The MS OneNote team is going to report on the status of the bug fix by the end of this week, according to a source on the...

Solved Anyone able to use the tablet mode??

Sorry, no instruction manual. I wouldn't read it even if there were one.... MS does have tutorials on how to navigate with Windows 10, however. In tablet mode, swipe in from the LEFT and you go into task mode; all the open applications will be there to see, as well as alternate desktops. Also...

    Surface Pro Hate

Just a Bing/Google search gets you 99% of what you need. I don't use Snip now; too hard To add further complexity, the shortcuts are slightly different on different machines (my Spectre x360 is slightly different from my SP3). Consider it an adventure...

    Surface Pro Hate

Taking a screen shot with "Win + volume down" does take some finesse. In portrait mode, touch and hold the Win button in the right bezel with your right thumb or forefinger, and then, within a half a second, press the "vol down" button briefly with your left forefinger. My favorite way of...

    Handling the S3

I had a similar experience with time distortion, albeit associated with an unhappy outcome. I was using my SP3 at work, carrying it around from one room to the next as I was documenting different things. A colleague was fascinated with this, and asked to try for herself. After handing her the...

What does everyone think of Edge?

I was just working on my "favorites" bar; just right click on a favorite, choose "create new folder", and then drag and drop. Seems very simple I am looking forward to getting some better flexibility with ad blocking; when I use any hosts list hack, some of the websites I use no longer work...

Is it, or will it, be possible to save Desktops?

I love using TaskView; it is a great way of getting to open programs in a hurry, especially with a touch screen, but also with a mouse. However, I find that my usual workflow utilizes pretty much the same programs in the same configuration day after day; each day I "rebuild" a series of...

Windows 10 for the Elderly - Easy Button

Speaking as a septuagenarian, I will admit that my personal observation is that most of my peers are not facile at PowerShell and Registry hacks. Some are incredibly dense and annoying (e.g. those who refer to my SP3 as my "iPad"), but most feel fairly confident in using computers for what they...

    Well, now I am sold

I had been using win10 preview on a laptop, and was intentionally NOT upgrading my SP3 due to my concerns about "tablet mode" functionality, compared with ver 8.1. But after accustoming myself to the new OS, I realized that everything I did in 8.1 could be replicated, with just a slightly...

Windows 10: Finally a decent Windows first release

Put me down solidly in the "I'm happy with Win 8.1" camp. Quite frankly, I am ambivalent about going ahead with the "upgrade" to Win 10 on my SP3. I am OK with Win 10 on my HP Spectre, however; this machine I use just as a traditional laptop.
