metro mail app, not grouping by conversation correctly

I also posted this at the answers.Microsoft forum. Wondering if anyone here has experienced this using the default metro mail app. ------------------------------- Hi all, Pretty sure this started happening with the last update of the mail app (about a month or 2 ago??). Before then, things...

    Wont turn on!

Try: 1. hold power button for 30 seconds and release. 2. Hold power button and volume up for at least 15 seconds. Release (if you see screen flash or surface logo prior to 15 second mark, keep holding buttons). 3. Wait 10 seconds. 4. Press and release power button. Should start up a few...

Here is why I love Windows RT

Fair enough. My point being, most likely the main reason there are few (no?) virus issues on the RT/Surface 2 is because the user base is not near large enough to pique virus developer interest.

Here is why I love Windows RT

True, some features of a web browser can help protect you from getting a virus. However, it is generally not the browser or email client or what have you that is more or less susceptible, but the operating system itself.

Here is why I love Windows RT

And part of the reason you never saw that on RT is why RT is likely going to go the way of the dodo bird...

Solved Swiping issues in tablet mode

I do not have this problem. I can swipe from all 4 edges and get the appropriate response. I'm sure you are, but are you making sure you swipe starting on bezel?

    Alarm Clock

There is no separation. when the screen is off it is in sleep (unless you actually shut it down). While in sleep, it is connected standby for the first 4 hours while on battery or permanent connected connected standby if plugged in.

    Alarm Clock

I tried the alarm, it rang fine when the surface was off (in sleep - connected standby). So as long as you plug it in at night the alarm should go off even if the screen is not on. One thing I did have to do to get the alarm to work was to turn notification sounds on (I had previously turned...

That is very true. Thanks for catching that.

    Alarm Clock

I think the metro apps will continue working while you are in connected standby - which is 4 hours after the screen is off. So not quite long enough for an alarm clock - unless you are just having a nap.

    Alarm Clock

No, they are not. You will notice if you change the setting there, it also changes the 'put the computer to sleep' value on the Edit Plan Settings main screen to the same value. You need to close the window and reopen 'more power options' to see the change. If you disable connected standby...

    Alarm Clock

Of course doing this requires you leave the screen is on all night. Can't believe sleep and turn off screen are not independent options.

It is there for me. What happens if you copy and paste that location in windows explorer?

    Something really annoying

I don't know why it does that sometimes. Usually completely closing the app and trying again works for me.

SP3 Automatic Time Update not working?

Same thing happened with my wife's surface yesterday. She had to do a hard reboot as it would not come out of connected standby. After the reboot, the time was off by a lot. Auto time was on, turning it off and then back on caused a never ending 'busy glyph'. I ended up just setting the time...

    SP3 Wakes Itself Up

This has happened to me twice at work. I am thinking maybe my mouse got bumped or something. I dunno. It is weird. If it keeps happening, may have to look into it a little more.

I am surprised because I know a lot of the online backup solutions big security thing is, "if you lose you password/key, your files are essentially gone, we cannot access them". Naturally, if they have it in the ToS, they must have a way to enforce it, but still, am surprised they scan your...

Yes, that is definitely easier. Though unless I was sharing stuff very frequently (like multiple times a day), not sure it would be worth it to me to use two different services. And, really, even if I was sharing frequently, I'd probably just get used to logging into onedrive every morning...

NP, and as I mentioned above, the history retention is much longer than 30 days. I was shocked when I read your post about that. Obviously I don't know the details about what the files were, but I wonder if they are just looking at file names/types vs. actually looking at the files. Not that...
