True, some features of a web browser can help protect you from getting a virus. However, it is generally not the browser or email client or what have you that is more or less susceptible, but the operating system itself.

There is no separation. when the screen is off it is in sleep (unless you actually shut it down). While in sleep, it is connected standby for the first 4 hours while on battery or permanent connected connected standby if plugged in.

I think the metro apps will continue working while you are in connected standby - which is 4 hours after the screen is off. So not quite long enough for an alarm clock - unless you are just having a nap.

No, they are not. You will notice if you change the setting there, it also changes the 'put the computer to sleep' value on the Edit Plan Settings main screen to the same value. You need to close the window and reopen 'more power options' to see the change. If you disable connected standby...

I don't know why it does that sometimes. Usually completely closing the app and trying again works for me.
