Poll Thinktank - An idea for Surface, a challenge for Microsoft

Theoretically, sure. The BOM cost wouldn't even reach 3 digits. However, we are talking about big-name companies, where they have to test their products extensively, and risk their name on it. That's why name-brand products are more expensive. Moreover, we are specifically talking about...

Rat Rating - Found an excellent mouse - Better than Wedge

Im in search for a fullsize BT mouse. I was almost set up with the Mad Catz MOUS9, since it is the one and only fullsize BT mouse I can find. Then I came across the Microsoft Sculpt Comfort Mouse (not Sculpt Touch). In term of dimension, this is comparable with the MOUS 9. The length is 111mm...

Mad Catz M.O.U.S. 9 Bluetooth Mouse

I just came across the Microsoft Sculpt Comfort Mouse (not Sculpt Touch). In term of dimension, this is comparable with the MOUS 9. The length is 111mm, right on the middle between MOUS9's shortest and longest adjustable setup. The width is 68.5mm, just a tad wider than the MOUS9. In term of...

Poll Thinktank - An idea for Surface, a challenge for Microsoft

Technically it is possible now. MSI just released their GPU dock, so did Alienware. And solutions for third party have been available for years, although it needs either Thunderbolt or ExpressCard port. Neither is currently supported on the SP3. But theres hope, if the vaguely-stated...

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

I want 200% on my SP3 and 125% on my monitor. The feature is actually baked in 8.1 already, but they insist that their predetermined scaling is better than letting us choose individually.

[AESTHETICS] Blacking out the vent grille

I think that would be like sending your Nissan with blacked out front grille, they don't really care.

Auto brightness disabled, yet still there. How to get rid of it?

Thank you for sharing your work! By the way, if you don't mind, I have some little inputs: - The menus and texts are really small when opened for the first time. I think it would be great if it starts maximized. - I have no idea about the I-Beam cursor, I think it would be great if there is a...

    Some notes on power savings

In my case, Core Parking increases the battery life for about 15-20%. I got an increase from 7-7.5 hours to 8.5 hours with core parking alone (haven't messed with regedit yet). Quite impressive in my opinion. Heres my setup for Core Parking (with Process Lasso https://bitsum.com/processlasso/)...

[AESTHETICS] Blacking out the vent grille

Before anyone complained, don't expect any productivity-related information nor discussion in this thread. This is going to be about aesthetics, mostly. If you don't like it, you can click on something else. For example, you can pick up the stapler that's sitting on your desk, open it up, and...

    App with Reading mode

Try flux justgetflux.com Although its not particularly designed for reading, but it modifies the tone so that your eyes wouldn't get so tired from looking at the screen in a long session.

    Surface Pro 3 Overheat Damage

My biggest gripe with SP3's thermal dissipation system actually lies in the body itself. When the machine is hot, its only hot on the right side (near the DP/USB port). They could've distributed the heat to the left side so that the right side doesn't get very hot. And I have no idea why metal...

Found Solution To SDXC Inaccessibility Woes...

Have you tried it with other SP3? Yours might be defective, as one other guy said, a small tolerance mistake could be a disaster. And the mistake might as well found in your SP3

Where does SP3 rank in your Top 3 favourite tech/gadgets?

Favorite of all tech products: 1. Surface Pro 3 Its the most versatile, flexible, and useful gadget Ive ever seen in my life 2. Tesla Model S Its the best electric car right now, where you don't compromise anything for going electric. Most importantly, even though it came from a small startup...

    Knuckle or Pen?

There must be something wrong with it. Try replacing the AAAA battery of the pen. If it failed, try reattaching the nib.

    Sleep is not really sleep

From consumer point of view, CS can be seen as just turning off the display instead of putting the whole computer to sleep. Think of it like pressing the power button on the iPhone. That means, alarms will ring, tiles will be updated, e-mail will be received, etc. Well, that's a very simplified...

If you don't mind about losing CS features, you can as well disable CS. Its more reliable

Mad Catz M.O.U.S. 9 Bluetooth Mouse

More like damn you Logitech for using proprietary technology instead of the standardized, widely used method. Thank you! That's super helpful. Im looking forward to that I also asked somebody else with the MOUS9 and s/he said that it lasts much shorter than the advertisement as well, just...

    Surface Pro 4 - wishlists!

I don't think using Xeon CPU would be more efficient in term of power consumption. The benefit of hybrid graphics like NVIDIA Optimus is that you can have the dGPU off to save battery life when you use it for light tasks like browsing. The dGPU is active only when you have GPU-intensive...

    Surface Pro 4 - wishlists!

Less battery consumption -> less power -> less heat -> more cooling capacity for more powerful GPU! I actually have thought about a SP3 with fanless Core M combined with 15W NVIDIA GPU. Since the CPU needs no fan, the fan can be used to cool down a 15W GPU!

Auto brightness disabled, yet still there. How to get rid of it?

The tool doesn't always talk with the driver well. This method is definitely more fail-proof than the tool. Tbh, Ive never used the tool to do that, since I always use Intel's updated graphics driver
